Hi All, We are in the process of updating the College's Green
Purchasing Guidelines for Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment which includes
a section for Paints and Coatings.
We are considering whether to specify in this
guideline that any interior paints meet the limitations set out
by Green Seal Standard-11 for Paints and Coatings. However, this standard
was recently revised and updated and is quite stringent in terms increasing
the list of prohibited chemicals that can be in the products. From what I can
see only 2 Canadian manufacturers can meet this standard.
My question is this: have any of you set similar standards?
If so, did you include any other guidelines apart from Green Seal, such as
Green Guard, CHPS and/or the Master Painters Institute Green Performance
Standard?

Standard?

You might also consider recycled
paints…..particularly for back of house areas where specific colour may not be
as high a priority.
