Under one of Western’s four major priorities identified within the Strategic Plan, “Leading in Learning,” sustainability is identified as one of the 12 priorities. It reads: “Embrace the principles and practices of an environmentally sustainable campus…” and goes into a bit of detail about our President’s Advisory Committee on Environment & Sustainability. Humber has sustainability as one of our six college values in our current 2013-208 Strategic Plan http://www.humber.ca/sites/default/files/uploads/documents/humber-college_strategic-plan_2013_2018.pdf (and the previous one): “Sustainability: We preserve our collective future by embracing the social, ecological, and economic impact of our decisions” (p15).
In addition to the value, in the most recent Strategic Plan, a new success outcome was included in the Foundations for Success section (p27): “We will know we are on track if, by 2018: Humber has embraced a comprehensive sustainability strategy that is embedded in our integrated planning and resource allocation model”.
With that statement, we’ve developed a comprehensive 5 year Sustainability strategy for the college that is up to be signed off in the coming 2 months.
